This year marks my 10th year with SEARAC, my first year as new mom, and my first year in grieving the loss of my father. Returning from sabbatical and family leave this past February as a new mom changed my life and made me a better leader - committed to building a bright future for my son's generation and beyond. And just six months after returning from leave, life came full circle with the passing of my Dad. To be called his daughter is one of the biggest honors of my life. And it is because of him, the first generation of Southeast Asian refugees that SEARAC was founded to fight for, that I will continue not just my journey to heal, but also my journey to dream to continue his legacy of love.

And this healing journey is not just mine, but SEARAC's.

We know that the road to healing from the COVID-19 pandemic is long. Our communities have faced many losses - from losing loved ones to COVID-19, fighting disinformation and barriers to access to save lives, and the “twin pandemic” of anti-Asian racism, hate, and violence.

But with your support, we have been fighting for a road map for a better future. As the national voice of Southeast Asian Americans, SEARAC leads the way in advocating for our communities’ right to to be seen, to heal, and to family. In just the last year, we have:

  • Developed in-language resources on COVID vaccines to combat disinformation for vulnerable communities
  • Trained and empowered rising SEAA leaders to advocate with members of Congress during our Digital Advocacy Training
  • Launched a historic mental health policy report focused on the SEAA community with community-based solutions and concrete recommendations for policymakers
  • Produced a robust series of public service announcements featuring five impacted community members sharing their stories, their hopes for the future, and their call to action for us to join the fight to end deportations.

But now more than ever, we need your support to continue this essential work in our communities, in the halls of Congress, and in the media. Together we can fight for the health, wellbeing, and economic security of Southeast Asian Americans. Donate today to support Southeast Asian American community resilience in 2022 and beyond.
