January 2024 marks my 10th year anniversary as Executive Director and 12 years with SEARAC. Throughout these 10 years, I have been blessed to have grown with SEARAC as I got married, started our family of four, and mourned the loss of my Dad who we lost too soon. During this decade, I have been blessed to experience SEARAC transform with grit, resilience, humility, and innovation to change and grow along with our communities. This process of evolution is one of the longest legacies of SEARAC's past and present that I am blessed to have inherited and contributed to growing this past decade.
Heading into this anniversary, I am so proud of the victories we've made this year including re-introducing legislation for our youth to be seen, built on the many decades of work allowing this reintroduction to be possible. And I am equally proud of the path that's forward rooted in these victories to commemorate another important anniversary coming up soon: 2025 - the community's 50th year anniversary as our community's civil rights moment.
